Mother's Day weekend started with a bang...literally! We traveled to Albemarle Saturday morning to cheer Calla on as she competed in the Hershey Games Track Meet. With the bang of the starter's pistol, she was off grabbing 2nd in both the 400m and 200m and first in the softball throw.

200m (lots of competition)
Calla collecting her ribbons from the announcer's table. Incidentally, that is Grandma in the yellow, she announces all of the events and winners for the day.
After the meet, we went to a local park to play and enjoy the day. Since we wouldn't see my mom on Mother's Day, we had a lovely lunch as well.
Once home in Waxhaw, we just weren't ready to slow down! That afternoon we walked around in town to soak up the SpringFest. The kids thoroughly enjoyed the petting zoo and bouncy houses while Jeff and I wandered through the many, many vendors.
Noah even got to feed the goats.
The slide was a definite family favorite!
One of the many perks of living in a small town is the opportunity to bump into friends and neighbors. At the petting zoo, we spotted our friends from church, Jessica and Reggie and their two beautiful little ones. All the boys had a blast hanging out together.

Finally, it was time to head home, but not before a Mother's Day treat...another funnel cake, YUM! For as much as we packed into Saturday, Sunday was truly my kind of day, slow, relaxing, and spent with family!
