My Baby Turns One!

This past week we celebrated Nehemiah's first birthday. It is so shocking how quickly he went from tiny, helpless newborn to babbling, mischievous toddler. Our sweet Nehemiah has had many changes over the past year, he has learned to walk, say a few words, fight for what he wants and go after what he probably shouldn't. He has an amazing personality of sweetness, contentedness, and stubbornness all rolled into one. And nothing has undergone more changes than his nicknames! From Nemo to Nemi, My-my to Miah and Nea (pronounced knee-a) to Tater Tot I think we have run the gamut. There is one nickname that has stuck...little Baldy! 3 days old, awwww!

3 months, still sleepy

6 months, there's our happy guy

9 months, so serious

11 months, beautiful boy

Happy Birthday
The Cake
I think he likes it!

Party's over...wait, disaster strikes and the remaining cake falls to the ground.

I think he makes it work! Crisis Averted!

YUM!!!!! Happy Birthday Nehemiah!

The Sky's The Limit!

At least it is at Sky Top Orchard. After church Sunday, we met up with some great friends and drove up to the mountains to go apple picking. Now some of you may remember that we just went apple picking last month, but I am here to tell you that this is one event that never gets old! Plus, we got four entirely different varieties of apples than we did the first time. Aside from the ferocious heat, the afternoon was picture perfect, no literally! With our family of seven outnumbered by the Walfords family of eight, I think some people thought we were taking a class field trip! Fortunately we were all color coordinated so it wasn't hard to tell which kids went with which family. Our lovely bunch!Getting so big this year.Since we left directly after church, we decided to have a picnic lunch once we got there. I have seen all-you-can-eat buffets with less food:)Look at those amazing mountain views, truly spectacular! The walk back up the mountain with three half bushels of apples in 90 degree heat was SO difficult! The kids are enjoying a much deserved slushy and donut.Picture Perfect!!

The Sun Sets On Summer

What else can I say about the beach this year? We started out our summer with a trip to Sunset Beach, NC and it seemed like a fitting way to end our summer as well. So Labor Day weekend we packed up the kids and headed to the ocean. Of all our vacation spots, I just love the beach the most. The kids can run, be as loud as they want and it never seems that hot, even when the thermometer is reaching up toward 100 degrees! Hunting for the perfect seashell.I think Nehemiah found one! The wind was so strong that getting the kites up in the air was a "breeze"! Noah wanted to see what would happen if you let it go, then Jeff got to chase it down and I do mean chase. Heading for the ocean, next year he will be walking! The boys made up a sand game where you try and roll a ball into a sand pit from certain lengths. Obviously Daddy won this round. Going... Going... GONE!

Milestones

August 29, 2010 was a very special day indeed, my Mom celebrated her sixtieth birthday. Most women would hate it if their daughter posted their age on the Internet, but I think my mom is rather proud of her past sixty years! And lets face it, she certainly doesn't look or act her age! I mean that all in the best possible way:)
This year we headed to Albemarle for a special birthday lunch with Mom and Steve. For her birthday, Jeff and the kids picked out 60 fun little treats for her to enjoy, and I got her a gift card to the local spa. Personally, I think she liked her 60 little treats even better! That's alright, Nehemiah gave her the best gift when he took his first steps right into Grandma's arms. It is hard to beat that.

They may not look fancy, but the coconut pecan filling was divine.

Everyone enjoyed the cupcakes:)

I think Nehemiah is dressed appropriately to play with the General Lee!

Everyone getting ready to go down to the basement-o-fun.

The fort Grandpa made the kids.A wagon ride from Bella, watch out:)

In other breaking news, Micah is now fully potty-trained. This weekend we went to the beach and left the diapers and pull-ups at home! No accidents even during the four hour car trip nor during the night in the rented condo (thank goodness). So my little boys are growing up. Micah makes sure that you no longer call him a little boy, he is now a big boy like Noah. And soon Nehemiah will be walking all over the place. Sniff, Sniff it makes me sad to see my babies grow up.
