Nehemiah Andrew Davis

September 22nd at 2:48 pm Nehemiah Andrew joined our family. He weighed 7 pounds and 12 ounces and was 20 1/2 inches long. After battling with Gestational Diabetes for 6 weeks, the doctors felt that inducing before my September 27th due date was in my best interest, so in so respects this birth was a bit more planned. After laboring for a few hours and sleeping for a few more, Nehemiah came very easily with very little effort. We are so blessed to welcome this perfect gift from God and cannot wait to see every first all over again. The kids were so excited to meet Nehemiah, who they have nicknamed Nemo! Who gets to hold him first is still a constant battle. While we are still taking it easy, this transition has been pretty smooth so far. We are getting back into the swing of things a little more every day.

Apple Picking Fun

This past weekend was so wonderful I couldn't have asked for better. On Friday, the fantastic ladies of our Sunday School class threw me a baby shower. It was hard not to be overwhelmed by such an outpouring of love and generosity for new baby Davis, due to be induced on this coming Tuesday! With such a beautiful evening shower, we are now completely ready (clothing and diaper wise!) for this little guy to be born. On Saturday, we spontaneously decided to head to the mountains to pick apples at Sky Top Orchard. While the apples were plentiful and the day was gorgeous, the heat and the climb made for an abbreviated trip from years past. Next time we go, we will not forget the wagon!!
Lastly we spent a lazy Sunday napping and relaxing after church. This coming weekend will be pretty calm as well, as we anxiously await the birth of our son early next week. Maybe he will have other plans and decide to come early and spice things up! If not, maybe I will get all the last little things on my "to do" list done:)

Labor Day, Family Day

This Labor Day we were invited to my aunt and uncle's house near Clemson, SC for a cookout. They have lots of land, lots of toys and lots of animals, so for our kids it is paradise. Although the drive was a bit long, the kids napped and entertained each other quite well. Because our sweet dog Hoban finally lost his long battle with diabetes, we were invited to bring Heidi along, which worked out perfectly. If the kids enjoyed themselves, then Heidi was in doggy heaven. When we first got there, my Aunt Barb and cousin Teresa, who both work at a daycare center, had arranged not one, but two toy areas. One with all girl stuff, a huge dollhouse and teddy bears and another boy area with action heroes and all the vehicle accessories. Micah liked the firetruck the best. They also have lots of fun animals, five dogs, three ferrets, a bunny and two cats. There were also a few goats that came around later that afternoon, that was Bella's favorite. Calla loved riding on my uncle's four wheeler and racing around their property and Noah's favorite was the ferrets, he loves ferrets. Even Heidi had fun running around the fully fenced acres and acres of land with her new doggy pals. We had such a great visit, I only wish we could see everyone more often.
