Mother's Day started on Saturday in the Davis household with a morning trip to the beautiful Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens. Fortunately we got there pretty early so it wasn't super crowded...yet. The kids loved running around all of the fountains and canals and Jeff loved to get lots of pictures of the stunning spring flowers and foliage.

Exploring the sand pit.
Although I thought we might lose one of the boys in the fountain (they got dangerously close to the edge), ultimately their favorite part was the giant bird cage with parrots.

The girls had their
favorites as well in
the orchid house
with the amazing indoor waterfall.
Truly I just enjoyed strolling through the peaceful
surroundings (yes, peaceful!) and getting ideas for gardening in our own modest backyard. At the end of our trip, I was surprised with a lovely Mother's Day plant courtesy of the gardens in honor of the weekend!

The breathtaking indoor waterfall.

Once the gardens began
getting crowded, we headed for a quiet lunch and then on to rest at home for a few hours! That evening we all went to play tennis. Calla and Noah will be entering tennis camp again this year in July and Jeff always enjoys a chance to hit around a few balls. Normally the little ones are not to interested, but this time Micah was very much
involved in the game. Bella, as usual, took off on her own :) and Nehemiah was a very enthusiastic ball boy.

Four on one, good odds for the kids!

"I got it"

Sunday dawned bright and sunny, that is unusual because normally I am up before the sun! But Mother's Day morning, I was treated to breakfast in bed, beautiful cards made by my little ones and Calla gave me a lovely plant while Noah made a bookmark with pressed flowers. After an inspiring church service we were anxious to get home to the promise of steaks on the grill! We invited friends over to enjoy our Mother's Day cookout which worked out perfectly. With her six kids and my five, there was no way we could forget what today was about!
