Thanksgiving

Didn't we just finish a big meal, decadent and fancy desserts, lots of wonderful family time and days off work? Christmas you say?? I think I am a bit behind!!  My New Year's resolution aught to be to keep up with blogging:)  Lots of stuff to cover in November, but not nearly as much as December, which is why I am so behind, but that is for another day.

With the holiday season approaching, the kids got a few pictures, you know, to work on that perfect Christmas picture pose...

Maybe we need a bit more practice!

Lyla got it right.  She enjoyed sporting the new outfit mommy made for Thanksgiving.

Ahhh, finally just one day before Thanksgiving and I sent the boys outside to run off some energy!  While they jumped in a GIANT leaf pile, I had some uninterrupted cooking and cleaning time.

Thanksgiving morning starts with a long standing tradition of Jeff taking the kids to church to drop off hot turkeys (which we got up super early to cook) and pies for the less fortunate.  He starts the day by praying for those families that receive these meals and for their hearts to be open to God's .  He also reminds our family about how blessed we truly are.

Once home, grandma and grandpa arrive and we get down to the biggest Thanksgiving Day challenge...planning for Black Friday!!!  Mom and I delightfully anticipate our most obnoxious mother-daughter tradition, going out on Black Friday (or Thanksgiving evening as it were this year).  From 7pm Thurs night to 2pm Friday afternoon, we shopped till we dropped (with 4 hours off of course for sleep!)

Once we finished our meal, we had to make room for dessert.  No better way than the Davis Bowl!

Boys vs. girls this year, Boys 1  Girls 0

Saturday morning we were on to the mountains to pick out the perfect Christmas tree.

Our great friends the Walfords once again extended their hospitality to us and shared this special time with our family.

After ANOTHER game of football (anyone else sensing a theme?) we were on our way.

Nehemiah found his tree and was unconvinced that we could do better.

But alas, Calla managed (once again) to find the perfect tree...fat, tall, beautiful!

Only one thing left to do...EAT!

Poor Pizza Hut didn't know what hit them, 17 hungry tree hunters:)

Lastly, our month concluded with another trip to grandpa and grandma's to celebrate the upcoming Christmas season and Micah's birthday (Nov. 29).

First we made ornaments...

then wrote letters to Santa...

we even got to see the big guy!

And on to the grandparents for some birthday fun!

Looks like somebody enjoys the busy schedule, good thing too because it has yet to slow down!!
