School Is Out, Vacation Begins

We started our Summer Vacation season just a bit early this year, heading to Myrtle Beach for a small family reunion just one weekend before school was out. Although, due to work and school, we were only able to stay for one night, we jam packed those 36 hours with as much sand castle building, wave riding, lazy river tubing, pool swimming, ice cream eating, family enjoying time that we possibly could. We stayed in our favorite northern Myrtle Beach hotel which always has great rates, newly remodeled suites, plenty of room and our favorite part, the full, hot breakfast each morning oceanside. It is not many places that will still do eggs, ham, pancakes, grits, waffles, and hashbrowns for breakfast for free for our large family. So thus, my shout out to Monterey Bay Suites. After our fun-filled Saturday, we headed to Surfside Beach to meet up with my side of the family for a small reunion of sorts. My Aunt Marcia rented a condo for the week with her son, Frank and daughter, Melissa and her grandchildren, Trenton and Taylor. My Uncle Randy and his girlfriend Penny and my cousins Jennifer, Alex and Erica were also there along with my parents. After a quick trip to the pool, we headed to the beach where we soaked up the rays and played in the sand for hours.

Once we got home, it was back to business as usual for a few days at least. Calla's last day was Wednesday, Jeff took off early and grandma was here to celebrate the end of school. The homemade snow cones didn't hurt either. Now that school is out, I feel like we have so much to do and yet no routine. In a few weeks we are headed to Disney World followed by the 4th of July and then a reprieve until August. Once school starts, things may get back to normal for a while, but just until the little one arrives in September. Whew!! What is normal anyway? This seems just about perfect to me.

Looks like a wonderful way to jump-start your summer! I especially love the first picture & the one of the kids all standing on the balcony looking out at the ocean--adorable!! We may have to check this hotel out sometime, it sounds fabulous!
